An interactive learning tool that helps children learn how to pay using euro coins and banknotes.
The user must find the correct sum of coins and bills to match the amount displayed on the cash register. It can also function as a learning game when the teacher sets a required number of correct answers.
Includes a scanning function for children with mobility difficulties.
Detailed presentation on the use of the application. If you have any questions or suggestions, please write a comment below.
Lesson Plans - Teaching Ideas
• Start with small amounts (3-10€). This will help children become familiar with basic transaction concepts. Do the same for cents.
• Use amounts that will be paid exclusively with banknotes.
• Once children are comfortable with round amounts (30, 40, 50 etc.), gradually introduce amounts requiring addition of tens and ones. Start with amounts up to 50€, continue with amounts up to 50 cents, and increase gradually according to your students' progress.
• Use the toggle switch under the cash register that alternates between the actual money paid so far by the "customer" and its numerical value, to help children perform calculations.
• Use help level 1 for group teaching. The automatic pause allows for class discussions about different ways to pay the same amount.
• Create a mini store in the classroom using printouts 02 and 03 from the "Shopping with Euros" application for laminated coins and banknotes. Children practice transactions by alternating roles as seller and buyer.
• For better learning outcomes, children can use the laminated coins and banknotes from the printouts simultaneously with the digital application. This allows them to verify their answers and better understand the connection between physical money and its digital representation.
• For students who need additional support, enable help level 2 and use the toggle switches to monitor their progress in payment calculation.
• For students with motor difficulties, enable the scanning function and adjust the speed to their needs.
• Organize speed competitions when students are familiar with the game. Create teams and ask them to find how many different ways they can reach the same amount. The team that finds the most ways wins.
• Ask children to use the laminated printouts or real money for homework. Children can practice with their parents by playing shopping games and alternating roles as seller and buyer.
